DESCRIPTION: W. M. Bond & Son, Boston, marine chronometer with 56-hour winding indicator, mounted within gimbaled brass tub and unmarked replacement three-tier brass bound mahogany box with recessed drop handles, silvered dial of approximately 4 inch diameter signed "W.M. Bond & Son, Boston. No 596," inner bezel engraved "Bonds Break Circuit U.S.A.," KWKS, fusee-drive with spring detent escapement, bi-metallic compensation balance with blued steel helical hairspring, s#596 with matching serial number to dial, tub with differing serial number. CONDITION: Mvt: Running, good winding indicator function, excellent cosmetic mvt condition overall, missing break circuit components, light discoloration and spotting to plates; fine-plus dial with discolored spot near 10, some mild light spotting elsewhere; excellent gold hands; tub and gimbals show light wear, missing tub locking tab, light discoloration to gilt surfaces; box with oxidation to brass fittings, slide lock on inside is missing a screw which lets the box open further than 90 degrees, crack to top, some scratches and finish loss.
